🌟 New 2026 harvest has arrived 💚 Awarded at the 2025 Great Taste Awards in London.
A smooth, full-bodied, aromatic, and slightly sweet premium green tea with the fruitiness typical of Kyushu and the umami typical of Shizuoka. Akane-san, a young tea farmer, runs the tea farm together with her family right at the foot of the active volcano Sakurajima. Akane San trained in Shizuoka and is now gradually taking over her father’s tea farm. Completely atypical for a green tea grown exclusively with natural fertilizer, this kabusecha has a very intense flavor with strong umami and no bitterness or grassy notes whatsoever. It is a kabusecha that is already highly sought after in Japan due to its strong umami.

Harumidori means “spring green” and is the name of the tea plant variety (cultivar) used for this top-grade Sencha green tea. Very high umami, intense sweetness, and a soft, mellow character are actually typical of shaded Gyokuro, yet the distinctive aroma of this Harumidori Sencha does not result from shading. The extremely rare cultivar, hand-picked by tea farmer Nobuyuki San, and a light aging process create the Gyokuro-like flavor along with a slightly sweet fruitiness. For anyone who loves the high umami and sweetness of Gyokuro but doesn’t want to sacrifice the freshness and fruitiness typical of Sencha, this tea is just right. Sencha Harumidori is a hand-picked Sencha green tea specialty with an incomparable character, aroma, and flavor.
Variety: Sencha (loose-leaf green tea, unshaded, lightly aged)
Characteristics: high umami, sweetness, buttery smooth, fresh and fruity
Producer: Nobuyuki San
