Limited Edition Sencha HARUMIDORI

25,00 €

Harumidori means “spring green” and is the name of the tea plant variety (cultivar) used for this top-grade Sencha green tea. Very high umami, intense sweetness, and a soft, mellow character are actually typical of shaded Gyokuro, yet the distinctive aroma of this Harumidori Sencha does not result from shading. The extremely rare cultivar, hand-picked by tea farmer Nobuyuki San, and a light aging process create the Gyokuro-like flavor along with a slightly sweet fruitiness. For anyone who loves the high umami and sweetness of Gyokuro but doesn’t want to sacrifice the freshness and fruitiness typical of Sencha, this tea is just right. Sencha Harumidori is a hand-picked Sencha green tea specialty with an incomparable character, aroma, and flavor.

A tea farmer's vision of flavor

Our exquisite Sencha is produced by gently picking the youngest tea leaves—known as “Miru” buds—and subjecting them to a precise, gentle steaming process. This meticulous process perfectly brings out the tea’s inherent qualities.

Every sip is a symphony of flavors, nutrients, sweetness, and a very subtle astringency—a treasure that will delight even the most discerning tea lovers. Our Sencha makes the perfect souvenir and embodies the essence of the exquisite art of tea.

Sustainable organic farming

To preserve the delicate balance of our ecosystem and ensure the safety and quality of “Kawane Tea,” we grow our tea without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. This approach minimizes interference with the natural system, thereby preserving ecological harmony for future generations.

Different ways to prepare it

For a crisp, fresh flavor, use water heated to 70°C and steep for 60 seconds. For a sweet, mellow flavor, we recommend 60°C and a steeping time of 120 seconds. Choose according to your personal preference.

A passion for tea growing

In the past, Nobukuki San has received numerous awards and prestigious prizes at tea fairs. However, he has since stopped regularly attending such events. Instead, he now devotes all his energy and resources to optimizing production processes in order to offer his customers tea of uncompromising quality.

Harvesting by hand is very laborious, but produces an exquisite green tea of the highest quality.
