This Shincha from the new 2026 season comes from Mr. Sugita in Makinohara, Shizuoka, in the heart of Japan. The extended steaming of the green tea, known as Fukamushi, gives the Shincha a deep, sweet flavor and a fruity aroma from the tea leaves. The very fine and broken tea leaves give the infusion a vibrant green color. Fertilization with home-grown tea grass further enhances the sweetness and depth of flavor of the green tea. If you steep the Shincha multiple times, you can fully appreciate the flavor nuances of the Fukamushi Shincha: ranging from sweet to spicy-umami to light and fresh. We currently have only a very limited quantity in stock, as Mr. Sugita produces only a limited amount each year and his Fukamushi green tea is very popular in Japan.

Sustainable & natural
Sugita San grows its own natural fertilizer in the form of tea grass between its tea fields. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are therefore not necessary.

This loose Shincha green tea has a sweet, full-bodied aroma with a balanced umami. Very fresh & slightly grassy. The cultivar (tea bush variety) Yabukita ensures a balanced taste.

This Shincha comes from Makinohara in Shizuoka Prefecture in the heart of Japan. Mr Sugita is a pioneer of the Chagusaba method, fertilizing with naturally grown grasses, and advises other tea farmers on cultivation without chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The loose tea is brewed in a pot with a sieve. Alternatively, you can use disposable tea bags. It is a sweet, aromatic and smooth green tea and tastes good to both beginners and green tea connoisseurs. Our tutorial video below shows you how easy it is to prepare.
For the 1st infusion, we recommend a temperature of 65°C with a brewing time of 50 seconds. We would recommend the 2nd infusion with the same water temperature & 10s infusion time. This brings out more freshness and a slight fruitiness. The umami is still strong. We set the 3rd infusion at 70°C and 15s infusion time. A nice freshness, slight astringency and a little less umami can be tasted. We recommend the 4th infusion at 75°C and 20s. Further infusions are possible depending on taste.
Another preparation option is the classic Sencha variant: with 70°C water and 60s infusion time, you get a clear, fresh and slightly sweeter infusion. Further infusions are then slightly hotter with a shorter infusion time (10-20s).
Coldinfusion
Our senchas are also particularly suitable for cold brewing: simply double the amount of sencha with cold water and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Your delicious refreshment is ready. Our tutorial video below shows you this simple and super refreshing preparation method.
Storage
Shincha Sencha comes in a sealed and resealable aroma bag. This makes it super easy to remove and the tea stays fresh for a long time. For even easier removal, we recommend our Washi tea tins, artfully covered with tissue paper.
