Limited Edition Sencha GOKO

Limited Edition Sencha GOKO
Sweet, very full-bodied and smooth with a pleasant umami flavor and light notes of vanilla and sweet pastries. Virtually no astringency or bitter notes, making it one of the highest-quality green teas in our lineup. Strictly limited! Produced by Okada-san in the small village of Wazuka in the Uji tea-growing region. The Goko tea plant variety is grown exclusively in Uji, Kyoto, and is used almost exclusively for matcha tea; as a sencha, it is therefore one of the rarest green teas in Japan. The tea plants are harvested entirely by hand and nurtured with fertilizer made from the farm’s own compost.

Unparalleled flavor
A milky-smooth mouthfeel with plenty of sweetness, pronounced umami, and no bitterness whatsoever. Light notes of vanilla. The dry tea leaves give off a delicate scent of pine needles and sea breeze. Absolutely unique in scent, taste, and aroma.
Harvesting by hand is very laborious, but produces an exquisite green tea of the highest quality.
NEW HARVEST NOW AVAILABLE! 💚🍵 Awarded 2 stars at the 2023 Great Taste Awards in London 🌟🌟
This highly aromatic & full-bodied Kabusecha green tea from the first 2025 harvest comes from Mr. Iwakura from Shimada (Shizuoka). The natural fertilization with tea grass (Chagusaba) is a traditional method from Shizuoka Prefecture and ensures a broad, complex aroma. Despite its intense, aromatic flavor, this top-quality green tea has no astringency and is not at all bitter. Like all our green teas, it is of course completely pesticide-free.

Akane San has crafted a black tea from the famous Benifuuki cultivar with a completely surprising flavor profile—one that is virtually unmatched in terms of sweetness and full-bodied richness. In addition to its very high EGCG/catechin content and its popularity among people with allergies, Benifuuki is particularly known for its strong astringency and bitterness. None of that is detectable in this sweet and mellow black tea. Instead, it is dominated by sweetness, a warm aroma, a full-bodied character, and slightly fruity and spicy notes. Akane San has produced only a very small quantity, which will be available exclusively at SHO CHA. Don’t miss out on this special tea!

Naturally grown yuzu citrus fruit meets kukicha green tea made from high-quality asamushi sencha. The yuzu citrus fruits with complex aromas are dried and the peel is then combined with a fine selection of tea stems and broken tea leaves. This creates a unique green tea with sweet, tangy fruit aromas and full-bodied green tea notes. By selecting only briefly steamed Sencha green tea, it is now fruitier and even better balanced.
