THESE 3 TEAS ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR SET:
TEZUMI SENCHA (100 g)
Hand-picked premium green tea from the small village of Kawane in Shizuoka. Processed entirely by hand—from cultivation and harvesting to drying and rolling—by tea farmer Susumu-san. A soft, floral spring tea with slightly sweet, fruity notes. Even the tea leaves themselves have a sweet aroma with fresh, floral notes. The tea has a bright green color in the cup.
Variety: Sencha (loose-leaf green tea, unshaded)
Characteristics: floral, mellow, notes of light-colored grapes, slightly sweet, delicate umami
Producers: Susumu San
Cultivation: No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers
Origin: Kawane (Shizuoka), Japan
Harvest: 1st picking 2026 (entirely by hand)
Cultivar: Yabukita & Zairai
Steaming: Asamushi (short)
Preparation: 1 teaspoon per 100 ml, 70°C, steep for 60 seconds
BENIFUUKI WAKOUCHA (100 g)
Akane San has crafted a black tea from the famous Benifuuki cultivar with a completely surprising flavor profile—one that is virtually unmatched in terms of sweetness and full-bodied richness. In addition to its very high EGCG/catechin content and its popularity among people with allergies, Benifuuki is particularly known for its strong astringency and bitterness. None of that is detectable in this sweet, mellow black tea. Instead, it is dominated by sweetness, a warm aroma, a full-bodied flavor, and slightly fruity and spicy notes.
Variety: Wakoucha ( black tea / Japanese red tea)
Characteristics: sweet, malty, full-bodied, notes of peach and strawberry, balanced and smooth
Producer: Akane San
Cultivation: No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers
Origin: Makizono (Kagoshima), Japan
Harvest: 1st picking 2026 (entirely by hand)
Cultivar: Benifuuki
Preparation: 1 teaspoon per 100 ml, 70°C, steep for 60 seconds
YAMA NO KAZE SENCHA (100 g)
Yama no Kaze means “mountain breeze” and captures the fresh, floral aroma of this unique Sencha green tea. Subtle sweetness, notes of wild herbs, and a clear, long-lasting finish with distinct umami reflect the special production process of this green tea: after harvesting, the tea is left to mature overnight in bamboo baskets over mountain spring water to develop its unique aroma, reminiscent of the floral notes of a light oolong tea. This type of Sencha is also called “Kaori Ryokucha” because of its floral aroma (香り/Kaori). A hand-picked Sencha green tea specialty with a unique character, highly aromatic flavor, and airy freshness.
Variety: Kaori Ryokucha (Sencha, loose-leaf green tea, unshaded)
Characteristics: floral, notes of wild herbs, slightly tangy, umami, fresh and vegetal
Producer: Susumu San
Cultivation: No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers
Origin: Kawane (Shizuoka), Japan
Harvest: 1st picking 2026 (entirely by hand)
Cultivar: Zairai
Steaming: Asamushi (short)
Preparation: 1 teaspoon per 100 ml, 70°C, steep for 60 seconds
LIMITED Sencha Green Teas
Our exquisite sencha teas are produced by gently picking the youngest tea leaves—known as “miru” buds—and subjecting them to a precise, gentle steaming process. This meticulous process perfectly brings out the tea’s inherent qualities.
